Depart Kuala Lumpur at 9am and head towards Kuala Selangor in the morning. Enroute, stop at Batu Caves (except three days of pre and post during Thaipusam festival) where a flight of 272 steps leads up to the sacred Hindu temple cave where the shrine of Hindu deity, Lord Murugah is located. Another cave, called the Museum Cave is filled with images of deities and murals depicting scenes from the Hindu scriptures.   Upon arriving at Kuala Selangor, visit Kota Melawati formerly known as Fort Altingsburg. The second King of Selangor had a fortress constructed on Melawati Hill to protect the state from intruders. From the top of the ruined fort, you will have a great view of the famous Straits of Malacca. If you are lucky, you may spot silver-leaf monkeys which roam around in the area. In the fort there is also an old lighthouse that was built by the British for ships passing through the straits to use as a navigation guide.   We proceed to a Malay village and enjoy a local lunch in one of the villager’s houses. Many Malays eat meals with their hand and the villagers will gladly show you the right technique. After lunch, set off around the village to see the villagers going about their daily activities. Mingle with the friendly locals, while learning more about their customs. Depart to our hotel and check in.   At dusk, around 6.30pm we transfer to a local restaurant for a sumptuous dinner and then we head off on a boat trip along the Selangor River. Here, thousands of fireflies put on a dazzling display of lights, with their synchronous flickering which resembles twinkling Christmas tree lights in the darkness of the night. Enjoy the wonder of nature with its night serenity before returning to your hotel. (Meals: Lunch and dinner) Overnight at De Palma Inn (basic accommodation and the best available in Kuala Selangor)

We visit a charcoal kiln where charcoal is produced and enjoy the novelty of walking through natural mangrove forests on a boardwalk.
